Are Battery Energy batteries cased in flame retardant containers?

Our batteries have flame retardant ABS cases, however, the flooded cells are moulded SAN material.

Why are Battery Energy's GEL batteries superior?

Our GEL battery has been designed to give an operating life as close to flooded batteries as possible. This is achieved by using special alloys, SuperGEL plate technology, thick plate designs, and a proprietary gel mix and filling.

Is PowerLYTE suitable for a solar application?

No, this battery is strictly for stand-by, float operation only.

Can EnerGEL batteries be used for cycling applications?

Yes, in solar hybrid applications with autonomy up to 50-hours duration.

Can SunGEL batteries be used for a stand-by application?

Yes, absolutely. Especially in extreme environments where cooling is not available or necessary and long discharge rates.

Does Battery Energy manufacture alarm, mobile phones, laptop or remote-control device batteries?

No, we only supply a premium range of industrial batteries.

Does Battery Energy manufacture automotive, golf carts or mobility scooter batteries?

No, we only supply a premium range of industrial batteries.

What do I use to connect my batteries?

All batteries are dispatched with the required fasteners, links and cables.

Can I use a new battery with old batteries?

Yes, however it's not recommended as the capacity of the bank will perform only as well as the least performing cell in the bank.

Maintenance

What happens to my power system as the batteries age?

Over time, batteries will start to lose capacity reducing the run-time for your applications. A correctly designed system should have approximately 80% of capacity at their end of life.

Are sealed lead acid batteries really maintenance free?

There is no need to top-up electrolytes, however, batteries must be kept clean to ensure terminals are clean and tight.

How long will my battery last?

As a box of electrochemical energy with a finite life, the more battery capacity used over a short period of time, the quicker it will fail. Subsequently, reducing the capacity used will lengthen the time it lasts.

Does a GEL battery require the addition of water or acid during its life?

No, the battery is sealed for life.

Should I open the vent on a gel battery for inspection or to top-up the electrolyte?

Under no circumstances should you open the vent on any sealed lead acid battery. This will void the battery warranty.

Can I add acid or water to my GEL or AGM battery?

You never need to add water or acid, and that’s the advantage!

Does Battery Energy Power Solutions Pty Ltd. export batteries to other countries?

Yes. Please contact us for further information.

What does C10 and C120 mean?

This is the rate that the battery is discharged at therefore, C10 is discharged over a 10-hour period and C120 is discharged over a 120-hour period.

Are gel batteries recyclable?

Yes, GEL batteries can be recycled using a registered battery recycler.

Does a thick plate battery have longer life than a thin plate battery?

Yes, the more material in the grid structure, the longer it takes to corrode away.

What does the "Design Life of a battery" mean?

The design life is a method by which battery manufacturers self-rate their batteries, based on the corrosion of the positive plate to failure. This test is usually conducted in a controlled environment with a measured thickness of the battery grid in a known strength of sulphuric acid. It should be noted that batteries can fail due to a number of reasons beside positive grid failure.
