Are Battery Energy batteries cased in flame retardant containers?

Yes the majority of Battery Energy batteries have flame retardant ABS cases with the exception of the flooded cells which are moulded SAN material.

Why are Battery Energy's gel batteries so much better than other batteries?

The battery has been designed to give an operating life as close to the flooded batteries as possible. This is achieved by using special alloys, SuperGEL plate technology, thick plate designs, and proprietary gel mix and filling.

Is POWERLYTE suitable for a solar application?

No, this battery is strictly for standby float operation only.

Can ENERGEL batteries be used for cycling applications?

Yes, in solar hybrid applications with autonomy up to 50-hours duration.

Can SUNGEL battery be used for a standby application?

Yes, however this is only practical if the autonomy required is over 50-hours.

Does Battery Energy manufacture alarm, mobile phones, laptop or remote control device batteries?

No, Battery Energy only supplies a premium range of industrial batteries.

Does Battery Energy manufacture automotive, golf carts or mobility scooter batteries?

No, Battery Energy only supplies a premium range of industrial batteries.

What do I use to connect my batteries?

All batteries are dispatched with required fasteners, links and cables.

Can I use a new battery with old batteries?

Yes, however the capacity of, the bank will perform only as well as the least performing cell in the bank.

What happens to my power system when the batteries get old?

The batteries will start to lose capacity therefore the run-time for your applications will be reduced. If the system is designed right it should be approximately 80% of capacity at end of life.

Are sealed lead acid batteries really maintenance-free?

No, there is no requirement to top-up the electrolyte however, you still need to keep the batteries clean and ensure that the terminals are clean and tight.

How long will my battery last?

A battery is a box of electrochemical energy and this had a finite life. The more capacity you use from your battery over a shorter period of time the quicker it will fail. Therefore the less capacity you use the longer it will last.

Does a gel battery require the addition of water or acid during its life?

No, the battery is sealed for life.

Should I open the vent on a gel battery for inspection or to top-up the electrolyte?

Under no circumstances should you open the vent on any sealed lead acid battery. This will void the battery warranty.

Can I add acid or water to my GEL or AGM battery?

You never need to add water or acid, and that is the advantage!

Other questions

Does Battery Energy Power Solutions Pty Ltd. export batteries to other countries?

Yes. contact us for further details.

What does C10 and C120 mean?

This is the rate that the battery is discharged at therefore, C10 is discharged over a 10 hour period and C120 is discharged over a 120 hour period.

Are gel batteries recyclable?

Yes, gel batteries can be recycled using a registered battery recycler.

Does a thick plate battery have longer life than a thin plate battery?

Yes, the more material in the grid structure the longer it takes to corrode away.

What does the ``Design Life of a battery`` mean?

The design life is a method by which battery manufacturers self-rating their batteries, based on the corrosion of the positive plate to failure. This test is usually in a controlled environment with a measured thickness of the battery grid in a known strength of sulphuric acid. It should be noted that batteries can fail due to a number of reasons beside positive grid failure.
